What is LaborIQ software?
LaborIQ is a workforce planning and compensation management software platform that helps HR teams, CHROs, comp analysts, and Finance leaders make confident workforce decisions, by turning compensation data into operational strategy. The platform provides reliable U.S. salary data, pay structure tools, and compensation data analytics.
LaborIQ is built for organizations of all sizes that need enterprise-grade compensation insights without the overhead of traditional enterprise software. Where other platforms offer salary lookups, LaborIQ’s HR compensation software connects compensation benchmarking, pay structure management, and workforce analytics into a continuous workflow.
-
What products does LaborIQ provide?
LaborIQ’s compensation management software platform has four core products:
- Salary Answers™ provides on-demand, current-market salary and total compensation recommendations for all job titles and U.S. locations. Leverage our database of skills and responsibilities to get accurate compensation benchmarking data.
- Pay Band Manager™ is a planning system for building, managing, and analyzing compensation structures. Use LaborIQ salary data to create and manage pay structures and customize pay bands for your industry and company structure to stay competitive with market rates.
- Pay Analysis™ is a compensation data analytics hub for benchmarking your workforce against current market data. Integrate with HRIS payroll systems to evaluate workforce compensation alignment and identify where pay may be creating risk, budget pressure, or retention concerns.
- Market Performance™ is the backbone for salary forecasts and compensation recommendations, a hub of U.S. labor market data and forecasts.
Together, these tools cover the compensation lifecycle, from researching a salary for a new hire, to designing salary bands, to analyzing how your entire organization aligns to the market.
-
What is LaborIQ Salary Answers™?
LaborIQ provides salary recommendations and pay ranges for all U.S. jobs and locations.
Salary Answers delivers instant market salary benchmarking, drawn from LaborIQ’s proprietary compensation market data. Salary Answers is designed for HR managers, recruiters, and hiring managers who need fast, credible salary benchmarking data to make pay decisions without building a full compensation model.
With LaborIQ Salary Answers, you can:
- Benchmark and forecast competitive market pay and total compensation for jobs in any U.S. metro or nationally for your industry and company size.
- Customize job requirements, including hard skills, and job responsibilities to use in job descriptions.
- Understand current and forecasted candidate supply and impact to hiring.
- Compare salaries across locations to understand pay differentials and identify optimal markets for remote hiring.
-
What is LaborIQ Pay Band Manager™?
Pay Band Manager is LaborIQ’s pay band compensation management system for building, organizing, and maintaining salary bands. It allows HR teams to define pay ranges by job title and location, grounded in LaborIQ’s market salary data, and manage those structures as the organization and market evolve. Pay bands created in Pay Band Manager flow directly into Pay Analysis, connecting compensation structure design with ongoing workforce benchmarking in a single platform.
With LaborIQ’s Pay Band Manager, you can:
- Create pay bands for each role in your organization within minutes.
- Share pay bands for approval within the platform.
- Receive reminders when it’s time to review and update your pay bands.
-
What is LaborIQ Pay Analysis™?
Pay Analysis is LaborIQ’s compensation data analytics hub for HR teams. It connects directly to your payroll or HRIS system (or accepts a CSV upload) and delivers a set of reports that show how your employees’ pay compares to current market salary benchmarking data, where your pay bands stand, and what it would cost to bring underpaid employees to market rate. Everything is calculated from real employee data, not approximations. Unlike traditional salary lookup tools, Pay Analysis is built for ongoing workforce intelligence, turning your compensation data into a clear, actionable picture of where your organization stands today.
With LaborIQ’s Pay Analysis, you can:
- Instantly see how many employees are below, at, or above benchmark across your entire organization.
- Identify which departments, locations, or roles have the greatest pay gaps.
- Calculate the cost to bring underpaid employees to market rate.
- Measure pay band alignment across your organization’s existing pay structure.
- Share insights with hiring managers, VPs, and other stakeholders—inside and outside the platform.
-
What reports are included in LaborIQ Pay Analysis?
Pay Analysis includes three core report views: Benchmark Alignment, Cost to Correct, and Pay Band Alignment.
Each report provides robust compensation data analytics, including compa-ratio and cost to correct scenario planning, and supports drill-down to employee-level detail. Reports can be shared seamlessly with internal and external teams, giving hiring managers, HR teams, and Finance leaders the flexibility to track trends or lock in a fixed view for presentations and audits.
Pay Analysis reporting in LaborIQ:
- Benchmark Alignment report provides a full breakdown of how employees compare to the LaborIQ benchmark salary for their job title and location.
- Cost to Correct report shows the annualized investment required to bring underpaid employees to market rate, highlighting potential retention risks. The cost to correct report includes conservative and competitive scenario planning to see the budget impact of compensation decisions.
- Pay Band Alignment report shows how employees are positioned relative to your organization’s own pay bands, as created in Pay Band Manager.
-
What is a compa-ratio, and how does LaborIQ Pay Analysis use it?
A compa-ratio (compensation ratio) is an employee’s actual pay divided by the market benchmark salary for their role and location, expressed as a decimal. A compa-ratio of 1.0 means the employee is paid exactly at benchmark.
Pay Analysis surfaces compa-ratios at both the individual employee and aggregate level, from significantly below to significantly above benchmark. For HR teams, CHROs, and comp analysts, average compa-ratio across a department is one of the clearest single indicators of whether that team’s compensation is competitive.
-
Can LaborIQ help me design a compensation structure and create salary bands?
Yes. Pay Band Manager, LaborIQ’s pay band compensation system, is purpose-built for compensation structure design. It enables HR teams to build and maintain salary bands by job title and location, grounded in LaborIQ’s market salary data.
Pay Analysis shows how your workforce aligns to your pay structure as well as market benchmarks so creating salary bands and validating them against real employee pay become connected steps in a single platform, rather than separate, disconnected processes.
-
Does LaborIQ integrate with HRIS systems?
Yes. LaborIQ supports direct payroll and HRIS integrations for automated employee data sync into Pay Analysis and Pay Band Manager, with more than 200 supported integrations. This means employee records stay current without repeated manual uploads, so compensation data analytics reflect your workforce as it actually exists, not as it existed at the time of your last CSV export. For SMB owners and HR teams without a dedicated IT function, native HRIS integration significantly reduces the operational lift of maintaining an up-to-date compensation benchmarking program.

Metro boundaries are determined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB). LaborIQ users can leverage the City-to-Metro lookup to determine their metro area.

How does LaborIQ help companies comply with pay transparency and compensation transparency efforts?
Pay transparency and compensation transparency are increasingly required by law in many US states – and expected by employees even where they aren’t mandated. In LaborIQ, Pay Band Manager and Pay Analysis directly support these efforts by surfacing where pay gaps exist across departments and locations, calculating the cost to close them, and showing how employee pay aligns to documented pay bands.
HR leaders can use Pay Band Manager and Pay Analysis to build the internal data picture needed to defend pay decisions, prepare for disclosure requirements, and demonstrate that compensation is grounded in market salary benchmarking data rather than informal judgment.
